tar pits

- ladine and i will be having (80% sure) a baby girl come January.

- the shield ended it's run this past week (on tuesday), in a way that really exposed the monster that was vic mackey and was really sad on a few accounts. it gave closure on all the events and was a good 90 minutes of television. it's sad to lose another quality show with damn fine writing.

-hockey has been frustrating for me this year - sports, sports, sports, sports, sports.

-my office/open barn smells like tar on a daily basis. today it's giving me a headache. but listening to tim barry is helping. i find myself more and more into all the bands on the suburban home record label. two cow garage and ninja gun are also enjoyable.

fathers & sons, wives & daughters

My overall excitement level for Ladine and my first child to arrive is growing, we go for one last ultrasound on October 14th to see if baby Lammers has moved from "breach" to proper position and to maybe try to find out the sex of baby. The last two ultrasound experiences have been pure shit - I would advise all to avoid Wall Street Medical building for ultrasounds. When an unpleasant technician uses the phrase "a skeleton with skin" when describing your unborn child it's quite infuriating.

Other than that I think we've finally decided on names for each sex, the girl is decided but if we think of something new it could change. The boy name is finally nailed down, not sure why we had such a hard time with this, but we're both happy.

The hockey season starts tonight, and the Hurricanes open their season tomorrow - I got the Centre Ice package at home (with Ladine's urging) so baby will get his/her fill of Carolina Hurricanes action this winter. The Riders have a pretty pivotal game in their season on Monday vs. the Stamps. If they can win they'll be in prime shape for 1st in the CFL West. Here's to hoping they can pull it out.

I don't know if it's just a different place by Dear And The Headlights new album 'Drunk Like Bible Times' is having a hard time getting into my brain. I would say 'If Not For My Glasses' and the end of 'I Know' are my favorite parts right now. I ordered Joey Cape's new solo album 'The Bridge' yesterday for $8 from interpunk so I'm sure more rants will come when I get some time alone with it. Speaking of which I can't seem to get enough of the Lagwagon/Bad Astronaut/Playing Favorites/Armchair Martian/Drag The River combination as of late. My iPod always seem to gravitate back to that.

I also procured a digital copy of the Ben Nichols (Lucero) solo EP - "The Last Pale Light In The West" is based on a novel and it's quite good. Better quality than "The Attic Tapes" but in the same vein, very enjoyable. I'm still waiting to hear something from The Ataris, new album or demos...

Other than that, not much else is on my mind - my office is moving next week to the old Minacs office space, it will be a change driving all Circle Drive to work/home but it'll be okay.
